SHOW 2023: Work Exhibited in Juried Show in Photo Place Gallery   Portals: Windows, Mirrors and Doors

I am delighted that my image, “Surprise Beyond a Unique Doorway” was accepted by Juror Laura Moya to be among 40 photographs for permanent display in the Online Gallery on the PhotoPlace Gallery website and 35 photographs for exhibition in our Middlebury, Vermont gallery from Jan 26 to Feb 24, 2023.   The juror, Laura Moya, wrote this in her Juror’s Statement: “The last few years has taught us much, including the realization that time is more abstract and elastic than we once might have thought. The social isolation and slowing down of life as we knew it perhaps gave us more space to pay attention to memories, dreams, and multiple realities – and gave us easier access to the “portals” that took us there. Thank you for sharing all your amazing photographic interpretations of this journey.”

SHOW 2022: Phillips Mill 2022 Photographic Exhibition

I am delighted that my “Dawn Light” was juried into the 2022 show! This is a print on metal of a traditional jangada boat after launching at dawn off the beach near Beberibe, Brazil, for a day of fishing in the South Atlantic. I worked down in Brazil for about 2-3 weeks every February for a decade, and loved to get up at dawn and see the sun come up and watch the men roll the heavy wooden boats down the beach on logs and then watch them launch in the waves.

You can see the program, pictures of the winners, and all the accepted work listed HERE. Since its inception in 1991, the theme “Photography as Art, Photographer as Artist” has remained a constant.
