April/May 2023: Africa Collection Unveiled!

Africa Collection - Unveiled!

Introducing the Africa Collection! Join me on a visual journey through South Africa, Mozambique, Eswatini, and Zimbabwe. I recently returned from a rail safari and I'm excited to share this collection of fine prints on fine art paper, metal, wood, and canvas with you.

Imagine seeing Zebra Motherly Love in person, witnessing sunbirds with shiny metallic feathers atop Table Mountain, and observing different species living together in the same space, reminding us of a peaceable kingdom. These moments inspired me to capture and share the beauty of Africa through my art.

I particularly liked Zebra Motherly Love, with the striped patterns on the mother who is nuzzling her foal.

One inspirational aspect of the safari was seeing different species living together in the same space. You don’t see this in zoos!

There were so many fantastically colored birds. This one was way inside a thicket on top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. I was so lucky to be able to get this good a picture of it with its shiny metallic colored feathers.

For flower enthusiasts, the collection features rare and unusual blooms as well as beauties from the famed Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town.

This Gloriosa Lily is the national flower of Zimbabwe.

And this is one of the more unusual blooms that I had not seen before, from the Marabou-thorn tree.

And just in time for your spring and early summer gifts, many of these images are available in tote bags and coasters.

But the Africa Collection isn't just about art. It supports FAIMER's global mission to improve health professions education around the world. During my trip, I had the pleasure of reconnecting with two FAIMER Fellow alumni and meeting a current Fellow in person for the first time.

Join me on my website, blog, Facebook, or Instagram pages to see more of the Africa Collection. This is my first major foray into animals and birds and I would love your thoughts!

Let's appreciate and embrace the diversity of our world through art and education.
